the fine print
your privacy

alexa's edit is a small, independent fashion edit run by me, Alexa Nastasi, in New South Wales, Australia. i want you to feel comfortable here, so this page explains, in plain english, what information the site handles, why, and what you can do about it. it's written to follow the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
the short version: i collect as little as possible. there are no ads, no advertising trackers, and no selling of your information, ever.
the information the site handles
when you email me. if you get in touch at alexa@alexasedit.com, i receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. i use it only to reply and to keep track of our conversation. email reaches me through Google's Gmail service.
if you sign up for updates. if i offer a newsletter or update list and you join it, i collect your email address and use it only to send those updates. you can leave any time using the unsubscribe link in an email, or by replying and asking me to take you off. (there isn't a signup form on the site yet; if that changes, this is how it will work.)
your saved favourites and looks. when you tap the heart on a piece or a look, it's saved straight into your own browser on your device (using local storage). it never reaches me or any server, and i have no way to see what you've saved. to clear it, tap the heart again or clear your browser's site data.
anonymous taps. so i can see which edits are resonating, the site records when a look or a shop link is tapped and which piece or look it was. that's all it records. it is not tied to your name, email, or any profile of you, and it isn't used to identify you.
admin access. the behind-the-scenes area where i manage the edit is password-free and signed in with a one-time magic link (through a service called Supabase). only i and anyone i approve can log in. visitors don't have accounts and don't need one.
standard server logs. like any website, the host that serves these pages keeps basic technical logs (including IP addresses) to run the site and keep it secure.
cookies and local storage
this site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. there's no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, and no behavioural advertising of any kind.
it does use your browser's local storage, which stays on your device, for two things: keeping your saved favourites and looks, and (for me only) keeping my admin login session. clearing your browser data removes them.
affiliate links
many of the product links here are affiliate links, mostly through ShopMy and retailer programs. when you tap one, you leave my site and the retailer or affiliate network may set their own cookies and see standard information (such as that you arrived from here, plus your browser and IP address) so a sale can be credited. that happens under their privacy policies, not this one. i'd encourage you to read the privacy policy of any retailer you buy from.
this is about the data side of affiliate links. for how the commission itself works, see the affiliate disclosure shown on every post and in the site footer.
who else is involved
i keep the list of third parties short and functional. your information may be handled by:
- Supabase, which stores the site's content and the anonymous tap records. this data is hosted in Sydney, Australia.
- Vercel, which hosts and serves the site and keeps standard server logs.
- Google (Gmail), if you email me.
- ShopMy and the retailers you're linked to, when you tap an affiliate link.
i never sell your personal information, and i never share it for advertising.
information sent overseas
the site's own data is stored in Australia. some of the services above, including Vercel and ShopMy, are based in the United States, so when they handle information it may be processed overseas. i only use reputable providers with their own privacy protections in place.
keeping it safe
i take reasonable steps to protect the small amount of information involved: favourites stay on your own device, admin access is limited and sign-in is by magic link, and i hold as little personal data as i can. no method of storage or transmission online is completely secure, but i do my best to keep things safe.
seeing, correcting, or deleting your information
almost everything this site touches is already in your own hands. your saved favourites and looks live only on your device, so you can clear them yourself any time (tap the heart again, or clear the site's browser data). update emails, if you ever join a list, carry an unsubscribe link that works instantly, no need to ask. and the taps the site counts are anonymous, so there's nothing about you to look up, correct, or delete.
the one thing i may hold is our correspondence, if you've emailed me. if you'd like that corrected or deleted, reply to any of our emails and it's done.
a note on younger readers
this site is meant for a general audience and isn't directed at children. i don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
if something's not right
if you have a concern about how your information has been handled, please email me first at alexa@alexasedit.com and i'll do my best to sort it out. if you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
changes to this page
if my practices change, i'll update this page and the date at the top.
this page is general information to help you understand how the site works, not legal advice. if you're relying on it for your own purposes, please seek your own legal review.
